Luxury Decontrol
Luxury decontrol is the process of deregulating a rent regulated apartment. A landlord can apply with the DHCR to have his/her apartment deregulated if the rent is over $2,500 and the annual household income is in excess of $200,000 for each of the two preceding calendar years. The DHCR will then review the landlord’s application and issue an order for deregulation.
